James Francis Bishop, 88, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2011 at the home of his daughter, Teresa Bishop Burke in Myrtle Beach, SC. Mr. Bishop was born in Emanuel County, GA, on December 29, 1922 the son of the late Bernice Bishop and Mary Lamb Bishop. He was formally a Veteran of World War II and was employed as an industrial machine mechanic for thirty years at Fine Products Candy Company and ten years at Kendall Healthcare Products where he retired. Mr. Bishop was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, McBean Baptist Church, and Central Baptist Church. He was the husband of the late Sarah Attaway Bishop; he is survived by his daughter, Teresa Bishop Burke and husband, Jimmy of Myrtle Beach, SC; sons, Jerry Bishop, Sr. of Augusta and Ricky Bishop and wife, Anne of North Augusta; nine grandchildren: Kirsten Overstreet, Jimmy Burke, Austin Mitchum, Jessica Mitchum, and Lani Burke all of Myrtle Beach, SC, Meagan Bishop of North Augusta, Jamie Bishop of Augusta, Jerry Bishop, Jr. and wife, Jennifer of Hephzibah, and Staci Bishop of Augusta; three great-grandchildren, Anzlee Burke of Myrtle Beach, SC, Kaylee Bishop of North Augusta and Jerry Bishop, III of Hephzibah; and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 1PM, Monday, January 17, 2011, in the Telfair Street Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery, Augusta. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8PM on Sunday. The family would like to say a special thank you to all of the wonderful residents and staff at St. John Towers where Mr. Bishop resided for twelve years. Also, a heartfelt thank you to all of the angels at Southern Care Hospice and Right At Home as well as Janet Burke for all of the loving care they gave to Mr. Bishop.
