Clara Brown, 84, of West Newton, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012, in UPMC Presbyterian. She was born Sept. 21, 1927, in Ruffsdale, a daughter of the late David E. and Mazzie (Soles) Stants. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Brown, in 1996; and three brothers, Ira Paul, David Henry and Walter Austin Stants. She is survived by five children, Sheryl Chopp and husband, Ted, of Pensacola, Fla., Lillian Sever and husband, Robert, of Madison, Beverly Badanjak and husband, Robert, of Herminie, William Gephart and wife, Deborah, of Connellsville, and Sherwin "Ed" Gephart and wife, Lisa, of Alverton; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Sarah Brick, of West Newton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the J. WILLIAM McCAULEY JR. FUNERAL HOME INC., 901 Vine St., West Newton, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment will follow in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Tarrs.
