LANETT -- Mrs. Kate Davis Allen, 87, of Lanett died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003 at Beverly Health Care in Lanett.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. (EST) at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Albert Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Allen is survived by two sons, Harry (Karin) Allen of Conowingo, Md., and Charles (Lynda) Allen of Opelika, Ala.; her sister, Lois Abercrombie of Valley; 10 grandchildren, Kathy (Archie) Coker and Sterling Bell, both of Valley, Lisa Ogburn of Smiths, Ala., Mark (Renea) Allen, Pam Green and Ken Allen, all of Opelika, Tracy (Lamar) Lester of LaGrange; Pam (Jason) Elliott of Lanett, Steve (Maria) Allen of North East, Md., and Michael Allen of Alkton, Md.; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Born Aug. 26, 1915 in Chambers County, Mrs. Allen was a retired employee of WestPoint Pepperell's Lanett Mill with over 40 years of service with the company. She was a member of Sunset Heights Baptist Church. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Allen, and her daughter, Barbara Leverett. She was the daughter of the late Willie and Wesley Davis.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Chattahoochee Hospice in her memory.
The family will receive friends Friday, Feb. 14 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
