Josephine "Josie" Braddock Bennett, 103, of Brunswick, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Senior Care Center of Brunswick.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012, at Chpaman Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Carl Barnhardt and the Rev. Bryan Gerstel officiating. Burial will follow in Blount's Crossing Cemetery in Thalman.

The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Active pallbearers will be Wayne Bennett, Bart Bennett, Ryan Lawrence, Mark Moyer, Gary Howell, Richard Howell, Danny Howell and Freddy Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Emanuel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her children, Betty Thrift, and Billie Jones (Ray) of Brunswick, Phyllis Moyer (Darrell) of
Perry, Wayne Tim Bennett (Fredda) of Jacksonville; four generations of grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W.W. ‘Bogie" Bennett; a son and daughter-in-law, Arthur and Ilavon Bennett; a daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Randy Howell; and a son-in-law, Robert Thomas Thrift.

Mrs. Bennett had been a resident of Glynn County all of her life, having been born in Bladen Community. She was a member of Emanuel United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, Glynn County 4-H, and the Brunswick Chapter of the N.S.D.A.R. No. 787. She was a welder during World War II with J.A. JonesConstruction Company, having worked on the Liberty Ships being built in Brunswick.

In lieu of fl owers, the family has requested memorial donations to Emanuel United Methodist Church Building Fund.
