Sue Boyd Dendy

Tupelo, formerly of Houston – Susan Riley Boyd Dendy, 97, died Friday, June 22, 2012, at North Medical Center in Tupelo.

She was born October 5, 1914, in Houston, MS to William Riley Boyd and Daisy Harrington Boyd. She married William Derwood Dendy on February 17, 1934, in Pittsboro, Calhoun County, MS. She was the retired owner of Dendy Equipment Co. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Services are Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at 10:00 AM at Houston Funeral Home in Houston, MS with Rev. Sammy McMillen officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Woodland. Houston Funeral Home of Houston in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her sons, Bill (Barbara Bentz) Dendy of El Macero, CA, Sid (Robbie Horn) Dendy of Houston, MS, Butch (Carean Thompson) Dendy of Tupelo, MS, Dan (Lulu Mixon) Dendy of Houston, MS; her daughters, Durwanda "Tuggy" Randolph of Arlington, TN, Jean Morton of Tupelo, MS, Susan Dendy of Pagosa Springs, CO, Ann Sargent (John) of Tucson, AZ; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; her sister, Mary Evelyn Boyd Matthews of Beaumont, TX; her brother, William Riley Boyd of Center, TX.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Derwood Dendy; her daughter, Mary Jo Dendy Sikes; her brother, Otis Boyd; and her sisters, Gladys Hovis, Audrie Evans, and Jo Holsomback, and her parents.

Visitation is Monday, June 25, 2012, from 5:00- 7:00 PM at Houston Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are her grandsons and great-grandsons, Derek Sikes, Greg Dendy, Zach Randolph, Brent Randolph, Michael Dendy, Garrett Meggs, Karl Morton, Michael Morton, Levi Dendy, Scott Rogers, Dustin Dendy, Brett Dendy, and Riley Pike.
