He died Monday in Ball Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Swaim was born in Osceola but lived most of his life in Muncie. He graduated from Alexandria High School and Ball State Teacher's College (now Ball State University). He taught business classes at Pendleton and Union City high schools, was a process engineer for 25 years at Owens-Illinois Glass Co. and was a self-employed accountant. He was a member of High Street United Methodist Church, Indiana State Teachers Association and Madison Masonic Lodge 44. He was a 50-year member of York Rite and was a licensed amateur radio operator.
Survivors include a son, Jack Swaim (wife-Cindy); a daughter, Sarah O'Brien Droege; a step-daughter, Judy Homrig (husband-John); three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren, and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to High Street United Methodist Church.
