Very little has been recorded for Della Pickens, my GGG-Grandmother. She is noted in the research posted in Roots Web as the daughter of Daniel G. Wood & Delila Beckham Wood, both born in Hardin County, TN. She married a Mr. W.T.Tankersley on 5 March 1876 in Hardin County, TN. They reportedly had two children noted in 1877 and 1878 who both passed away. She then married James William Pickens on 27 September 1879 in Hardin County and she had a baby boy, my GG-Grandfather the following year. It is believed that Della passed away shortly thereafter, perhaps as a result of childbirth. More research needs to be done on her life and to locate her burial site in Hardin County, Tennessee.

Remember Me
To the living, I am gone.
To the sorrowful, I will never return.
To the angry, I was cheated.
But to the happy, I am at peace.
And to the faithful, I never left.
I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.
So as you stand upon a shore, gazing at the beautiful sea-remember me.
As you look in awe at a mighty forest and it's grand majesty-remember me.
As you look into a flower and admire it's simplicity-remember me.
Remember me in your heart, your thoughts, your memories of the times we loved.
The times we cried, the times we fought, the times we laughed.
For if you always think of me, I will never be gone.
