Lucille Wylie Cooper, 97, widow of John Wellington "Wacky" Cooper, died March 12, 2013 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born February 2, 1916 in Shawnee, OK, she was the daughter of the late Henry Curtis and Josephine Clary Wylie. A 1935 graduate of Danville High School.
Lucille owned and operated Gwinn Island Marina from 1946 until 1977. She was a long time member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She was a 30 year member of the Women's Bowling League, a member of Sweet Adelines, she loved playing bridge and she was known as a True Lady.

Survivors include a daughter; Kathleen Cooper Noe of Lawrenceburg, Ky., two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, two nephews; Kenneth and Garnett Finley and her long time care giver; Kathleen Brewsaugh. She was predeceased by a daughter; Dianne Wylie Cooper Shook and two sisters; Virginia Wylie Butler and Thelma Wylie Finley. The funeral service will be Friday at 1 pm at Stith Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Noel officiating. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers are John Hughes, Bill Kemper, Kenneth and Garnett Finley and The Joy Sunday School Class and The Fun Loving Hearts of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. Visitation is Friday at the funeral home from 11 am until the service time. Memorial donations may be made to Heritage Hospice of the McDowell Foundation.
