HAMPTON - Charles Granville Anderson, 88, member of Bethel Baptist Church, Fluvanna County, died Saturday, Jan. 29.
Mr. Anderson retired in 1969 from the Virginia Electric and Power Co. where he worked as a shift supervisor and chief operating engineer at the Yorktown power station. After his retirement he was employed with Laramore Douglass & Popham in Columbia, South America, where he opened an electrical power station. He was a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons for more than 63 years, as well as a member of St. Tammany Lodge 5 in Hampton. He was a past member of Fork Union Lodge 127 and the Exchange Club as well as a charter member of the Gem and Mineral Society of the Virginia Peninsula.
Survived by two daughters, Ruth A. Gerringer of Hampton and Beverly A. Clement of Richmond; four sisters, Bernice Wilson of Des Moines, Iowa, and Laura Johnson, Gertrude Anderson and Mae Harris, all of Charlottesville; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside service 2 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Chester L. Brown in Peninsula Memorial Park with Masonic Rites. Viewing 1 to 5:30 p.m. today at the Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home. Visitation 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials to the American Heart Association or the Wythe Volunteer Rescue Squad.
