EDNA SUNDQUIST MASSEY & LEWIS LEROY "ROY" MASSEY

Lewis LeRoy, known as Roy, spent most of his childhood years in Daniels, Dry Fork and Vernal, Utah. Edna was reared in the Pleasant Grove, Utah area, where most of her family still reside. After their marriage, Edna and Roy settled in the Vernal area.

Edna was strictly a homemaker, who excelled in most of -its arts. er cooking and candy making were hard to beat. seldom You very seldom would see her when her hands weren't busy doing something; especially quilting and crocheting. She loved poetry and her children and dren loved to listen to her stories. She also loved to visit family throughout the west.

Roy enjoys looking back to the Dry Fork years of hardwork and community spirit and family pastimes. He learned responsibilities of feeding cattle, milking cows, churning butter, working fields, clearing timber, chopped wood and whatever else was expected. He also spent alot of time with his father fencing and taking care of trap lines. Work always took precedence over school and play.

In school, he had a sharp mind, excelling in spelling and math. At an early age he could recite the times tables to 13. Later on,when the family took over the Vernal boxing events, he spent alot of time boxing. He was known as 'Cherokee Massey' and he established quite a record of wins. He also enjoyed rodeoing during these years.

Most of his professional life, he was a self-employed fencing contractor, a profession he has taken great pride in. He is very good on the harmonica and loves to play the "old time" tunes. He loves the beautiful mountains, especially during the fall season. He also loves rodeos, company, family picnics and get togethers, and especially his family. He takes great pride in their accomplishments.
