3rd Husband Julius Pevey
Funeral services were held in the Bethel Baptist church Sunday afte noon at three o'clock for Mrs. Effie Pevey, 84, wife of Julius Pevey of the Bethel community.
Rev. Emmitt Moak, pastor of the Bethel Baptist church was in charge of the sevices and was assisted by Rev. John L. Carlisle, pastor of the New Zion Baptist church.
Mrs. Pevey, a native of Simpson county, and a resident of Lawrence County for fifty-eight years, died late Friday evening in the Lawrence County Hospital where she had been a patient for five weeks. She was the daughter of the late Abner Hedgepeth and Sallie Walker Hedgepeth. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist church.
Mrs. Pevey was buried in the Bethel church cemetery with the Lawrence County Funeral home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Lamar Hedgepeth, George Harrison, Odis Fuller, Willie J. Welch, Alton King and Ralph Mcland.
Mrs. Pevey is survived by her husband, Julus Pevey, Monticello, a son Rev. Marvin Welch, Monticello; four half brothers Clint Hedgepeth, and Lee Hedgepeth, both of Monticello: Rev. George Hedgepeth, Columbia;Henry Hedgepeth, Hattiesburg; a half sister, Mrs. Ivy Hancock, Pascagoula and several step-sons and step-daughters.
