Mrs. Abernathy was a Charter member of the Professional Business Women's Club, and was the First Female from Rowan County to enlist in the U.S. Marines. She was a nurse, and a Veteran of W.W. II.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Burt Abernathy, precedes her in death.
