He was born in Poland and entered this country in December 1895 as Stanislaus Pescinski at a very young age with his mother Aniela (Dobrosielski) Pescinski and two siblings. His father had already immigrated. They lived in Salem where they remained until his mother's death in 1900 after which his father allegedly returned to Poland. Stanislaus changed his name to Stanley Preston because of discrimination against Polish immigrants at that time. He married Julia in 1917, and they were divorced in 1925. My mother never saw him again. There were no children in the second union.
