Mr. Markman was born on November 26, 1912 in north Edwards County, the son of Walter and Dora (Schmidt) Markman. He married Mildred Smith on April 15, 1936. She survives.
He was a farmer and a charter member of West Salem Ruritan Club, United Methodist Church and a past director of Edwards County Soil Conservation Service.
Mr. Markman is survived by his wife, Mildred Markman of West Salem; two sons, Robert Markman and his wife, Judy and Larry Markman and his wife Clara, both of West Salem; a sister, Juanita Knust of Olney; five granddaughters and four great-grandchildre.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Wallace V. and Merle Walter, infant.
