Commonly known as Len, Leonard was the son of George W. Camp and Mirinda Peck, Leonard was an allied member of John and Betty More's Jonas line. He was raised at Toddsville, New York. The family relocated to Hartwick, New York about 1915 where his father was the owner and operator of a farm. The family relocated to Oneonta, New York about 1920 where his father was a railroad wrecker and later a railroad car repairer. Leonard married to Beatrice May Rose on 28 April 1928 at Oneonta, New York. They made their home at this place where Leonard was employed by D & H Railroad Bea was employed as a nurse. They relocated to Laurens, New York about 1937 where he was the owner and operator of a farm and Bea was a nurse at A. O. Fox Hospital at Oneonta. About 1960, they relocated to West Oneonta when Leonard took a position with Gilbert Lake State Park. Leonard died at A. O. Fox Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Leonard and Beatrice were the parents of six children; Milton George Camp, Annette Camp who died at birth, Olive Joyce Camp who died at birth, Ronald Elbert Camp who died at birth, Leonard J. Camp who died shortly after birth, and Harriet Julia Camp. Leonard was also the guardian of Howard Lambart Landstrom, an orphan from New York City, from about 1935 to 1941. More about Leonard below.

"Leonard C. Camp, aged 53, of West Oneonta, former Justice of the Peace, Town of Laurens, died Tuesday, August 28, at Fox Hospital in Oneonta, after a long illness. He was born January 15, 1909, at Toddsville, the son of George W. and Marinda (Peck) Camp. He married Beatrice Rose, April 28, 1928 in Oneonta. Mr. Camp had owned and operated a farm near Laurens for 23 years. More recently he had been employed at the Gilbert Lake State Park. He had resided in his West Oneonta, RD home for the past year. He was a member of the Laurens Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife; one son, Milton G. Camp and one daughter, Miss Harriet Camp of West Oneonta, RD; two brothers, Ray Camp of Sidney and Richard W. Camp, Columbus, O.; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Welch and Mrs. Mary Bird of Cuyler. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 31, at the Laurens Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Andrew Van Antwerpen, retired Presbyterian minister, officiating.
