William's funeral was preached by Rev. J. M. Smith from Ps 48:12 at Bethel on the 3rd Sun. in August p.m.

He lived his married life in the upper Catawba County NC area of Bunker Hill. He was a farmer and was in the 42nd Regiment NC Troops, CSA, during the civil war.

William bought 100 acres on the north side of Lyles Creek on 3 August 1837 from Simon Deal. This was the land which had been given to Simon by his father, and was part of a tract which had been granted to John Jonas.
