Bernard Wayne Adkins, 66, of Jumping Branch went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at his home following an apparent heart attack.

Born July 15, 1944 at Sandstone he was a son of the late Bernard W. and Ruie Keller Adkins.

A United States Army Veteran he served his country during the Vietnam War, was of the Baptist faith, loved hunting, fishing and gardening but what he enjoyed most was spending time with his family and friends.

Preceded in death by one brother, Marcel Dean Adkins.

Survived by three daughters, Diann Wears of Toledo, OH, Melanie Adkins of Jumping Branch and Teresa Jannesen of Toledo, OH; one son, Shannon Wayne Adkins of Norwood, NC; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two sisters, Dottie Bennett and husband Joe of Nimitz and Sheila Moss of Jumping Branch and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 14, 2010 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Don Hannah officiating.

Burial will follow in the Kidwell Cemetery near Grandview. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday.

Jeff Bennett, Jason Weiss, Robbie Cox, Paul Turner, Frank Gibson and Frank Thompson will serve as pallbearers.
