Mrs. Gladys S. Charping, 84, formerly of Gibsland, died at the Arcadia Baptist Retirement Center on January 6, 1996. Funeral services were held Sunday, January 7, 1996 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Arcadia Chapel. Rev. Jesse Smith officiated. Burial site was held in Salem Cemetery, Athens. Pallbearers were William Heflin Jr., David Heflin, Joseph Heflin, Donnie Chandler, Greg Chandler, and Heath Kidd.
Mrs. Charping was born in Heard Co, GA. She was a homemaker and a member of Gibsland First Baptist church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon D. Charping and son, Derwood Charping. Survivors are four daughters, Avis C. Youngblood and Omega Lyles, both of Gibsland, Carolyn Crowder of Arcadia, and Nancy Huffman of Conover, NC; twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
