TUSCOLA - John L. Gillenwater, 78, of Tuscola died at 2:15 pm Monday in Mercy Hospital, Urbana.
He was the father of Charles Gillenwater and the brother of Sammy Gillenwater, both of Charleston.
His funeral will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday in Waddington Funeral Home, Tuscola, with burial in Arcola Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 7 to 8 pm today.
Mr. Gillenwater was born in Tompkinsville, Ky, a son of Lindsey and Mary Gillenwater. He married Roxie Crowe in 1925. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Virginia Reedy of Stenett, Texas; Mrs. Geneva Shaffer and Mrs. Pearl Rink, both of Champaign; another son Floyd of Azuso, Calif; three other brothers, Jesse of Villa Grove, Elvin or Arcola and Carl of Salem; one sister Mrs. Lucy England of Sullivan; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Tuscola.
