Jennie Fatland Berhow

Jennie Fatland was bornMArch19, 1877, to the parents John and Sarah Fatland, near Cambridge, Iowa and died at her home in Eagle Grove,Iowa, February 28, 1947, age 69 years, 11 months and 20 days. She received the Christian baptism, was taught the way of Salvation in Jesus Christ, and confessed her Chrstian faith in her youth. She attended the public schools and grew to womanhood in Story County.

On March 14, 1899 she was united in marriage with Thomas Berhow. Mr. and Mrs. Berhow lived for the greater part of their married life on their farm home near Kanawha, with the exception of a few years in Story county. In 1940 they retired to Eagle Grove, which has since been their home. One infant son died at the age of ten months. Mrs. Berhow is now survived by her husband and their four sons: Floyd, Edgar, Byron, and Sidney and nine grandchildren, four brothers, and five sisters. The brothers are Carl, Keiser L., William, and Ole; the sisters are Mrs. Carrie Osness, Mrs. Amanda Ostrem, Mrs. Marie Hopkins, Mrs. Esther Severson, and Mrs. Evelyn Tostenrud.

Mrs. Berhow was a kind, pleasant and likable lady, a good wife and mother. Together with her husband they gave their boys a good education. She was a true friend and a helpful neighbor. She was interested in all matters which concerned her community. She was an active member of the Eagle Grove Evan. Lutheran Church, and a faithful worshiper at the services.
