Alvin McKinley Alden, 53, of Wyola, passed away June 17, 2012.

Isxa Pa'alii itchish "His Good Medicine" was born Feb. 25, 1959, in Crow Agency, a son of Joseph and Ruth Backbone Alden Sr. He grew up and received his education in Lodge Grass, graduating as a National Honor Society member in 1977. While in school, he actively participated in football and basketball. He was awarded the prestigious "Coach's Dream" trophy, as well as receiving Mr. Hustler and All-Star trophies on numerous occasions in an independent basketball league. He later attended MSU-Bozeman and Little Big Horn College, where he played intramural basketball. During his younger days, he rode and broke horses. He worked for the Westwood ranch for several years. He loved the outdoors, especially when he could go fishing.

He and his companion, Theresa Aragon, have been together since 1997, making their home in Wyola. He was a member of the Baptist Church, Big Lodge Clan and was a Bad War Deeds child.

Alvin worked for the Crow Tribe as a carpenter, however he was known as a "Jack of All Trades." He was always willing to lend a helping hand, to family and friends. His passion in life was the time he spent with his grandchildren.

His father; a son Shylon; brothers Glenn Birdinground and John B. Alden; adopted brothers Joe Birdinground, Mike Lion Shows; and nephew Clarence "Indian" Three Irons Jr. preceded Alvin in death.

Survivors include his mother, Ruth; his companion Theresa; his daughters, Brandi Alden, Darci (William) Springfield and Joetta Hiwalker; his sisters, Frances, Clara, Daphne and Laurie Alden, Lavonne (Moses) Tall Bear, Joselyn (Clarence) Three Irons, Anita (Dana) Old Coyote, Polly (Ellsworth) DeCrane and Nema (Charles) Alden-Scott; his brothers, Joe (Charlene) Alden Jr. and Gary Joe (Lavina) Whiteman; Brandi's mother, Kim LeBeaux; his grandchildren, Zavier, Zecheya, Quincey, Tayzha, Garious, Emma, Adrian, Shylynn and Tyrell; adopted parents Perry and Dorothy Aargon-Huff; his adopted sons, Kyle Fraser, Merlin Tsosie and Cowboy Pease; his adopted sisters, Verna Pease, Alta Bird in Ground, Lana Robinson and Karen Watumbach; his adopted brothers, Anthony (Alma) Davies, Ronald (Georgine) Falls Down, Dale Bird in Ground, Larry (Marlene) Kindness, Clayton (Rebecca) Falls Down, Gary (Barbara) Gardner, Harold (Debbie) Backbone, Jonathon (Raylene) and Dale Dean Pretty On Top; as well as his extended family including the Morrison, Backbone, LaForge, Driftwood, Door, Left Hand, Little Nest, Redwolf, Sees the Ground, Hugs, Bright Wings, Goes Ahead, Pretty On Top, Aragon, Nomee, Humphrey, Dillon, Plenty Hawk, Beaumont, Hoops, Charges Strong, Long Tail, Bloodman, Knows the Gun, Old Horn, Bear Below, Not Afraid, Plenty Hoops, Jefferson, Bird, Bear Cloud, Old Dwarf, Little Bears from Canada, Fredericks and Parshalls from North Dakota, and the family of the late Phillip Whiteman Sr. Our family is large; if we have missed you, please accept our apology.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday May 21, in the Lodge Grass High School gymnasium. Interment will follow in the Lodge Grass Cemetery.
