Gertrude Hodges passed away Sunday, July 31, 2011 in Fort Worth at the age of 93.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2011at the First Southern Baptist Church in Fritch, Texas with interment following at Westlawn Memorial Park in Borger, Texas. She will lie in state Wednesday August 3 at Minton Chatwell Funeral Home in Fritch. Arrangements are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.

Gertrude Gertie was born December 12, 1917 in Norman, Oklahoma to Adley and Jesse Hogan. She was a true Rosie the Riveter, assembling aircraft in Oklahoma City during World War II and married the love of her life, Roland James Hodges, when he returned from his service in the Army when the War ended. They moved to Sanford and together they shared the blessing of raising their daughter, Donna. Gertie was a member of Eastern Star for many years and she shared her love of life, family and her Lord. She was best known for her love of all things bright and beautiful, which included attending church and singing in the choir, cooking and making a home for her family. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Fritch for more than 50 years. Gertie was a beautiful Christian lady who loved her Lord, lived a life of faith, hope and prayer, and will be greatly missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched with her grace and charm.

The family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the precious staff at Renaissance Park Nursing Home in Fort Worth who treated Gertie with the utmost love and respect during her 7 years there, and a special thankyou to those who helped her so lovingly through her last days.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, Roland James Hodges, her parents, and sisters Velma Fehse, Beatrice Box and brother Paul Hogan.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Ross of Fort Worth, granddaughter Jennifer Shelton and husband Bodi Shelton of Burleson, greatgrandchildren, Alison Shelton and Brandon Shelton, her brother in law George Leinneweder of Huntsville, TX her very special nieces and nephews including neice Betty Sowers of Ft. Worth and a host of friends in the Panhandle and in Fort Worth.
