August Pein was born in Ellerhoop Germany. He came to America when he was 17 years old. He died May 25, 1955 at the home of his daughter Gretchen Jackson in Independence, Missouri. He was the youngest of the four brothers who came to America. He settled near Glenwood, Iowa. He later lived for some time in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. After the death of his wife Cecelia, in 1915, he and his children moved to Kansas city, Missouri where he remained until his death. All four brothers lived past 80 years. Their names were: Christian, Fred, Henry and August.
