MUNCIE--Beloved husband and father, Gorden G. Bernard, 84, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Bethel Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born January 6, 1928 in Pierz, MN, the son of George and Katherine (Theisen) Bernard. Gorden served for several years in the United States Navy and then graduated from Bliss Electrical College. He worked for almost 50 years in the electrical construction industry, first in Ohio, where in 1953 he met his future wife, Jean. Most recently, he was employed by NG Gilbert Company in Muncie. Gorden was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church and volunteered at the Muncie Harvest Soup Kitchen and St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Store with Jean.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ramona Jean (Daulton) Bernard;
He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant daughter, Mary; and one sister, Bernice Meyer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Rd., Muncie, IN 47304 with Rosary Services held at 7 p.m.
