Orrin Bostwick 97 famous as a pedestrian to last days.
Died at 7am jan 22 1905 at his home in Cooperstown Juction.
Mr Bostwick was famous as a padestrian even in his advanced
age, he was able to walk long distances. He learned to over come distances by his own effort in a day when there were no railroads and he ignored modern means of transportation to the end of his life. His business never took him many miles from his home, and a visit to family in nighboring towns was always on foot.
The indepndence which he displayed in this regard was characterisitc of his nature. He always did his planning without consel and when determined upon a course it requried something more then an ordinary obstacle to influnce him. He was a carpenter by trade and built many ot the buildings of his locality.
He was born in the town of Maryland April 10 1808 and spent his long life within the town,he married Hester Palmatier and for 50 years they enjoyed a happy union which ended with her death. Ten children survive him. The funeral was held Tuesdaya 1;30 pm interment in the Spencer Cementery.
