Alfred Halliburton Atkinson of Delanco, age 87 years, passed away June 12, 2012.

He was a native of Camden and resident of Delanco since 1948. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII having served on the USS Bell in the Atlantic and Pacific.

Al retired as a N.J. State Trooper at the Rank of Sergeant 1st Class after 25 and 1/2 years and was the Station Commander of the Bordentown Barracks.

He was a devoted Christian. Al was a member of Willow Brook Country Club and was an avid Golfer and Bowler. He was a member of the Beverly-Riverside Masonic Lodge # 107 F.& A.M. He also was an avid Phillies & Eagles Fan. Al loved to read books and had a wealth of knowledge.

Beloved husband of Margaret 'Peggy' (nee Johnson), dear father of Donna J. Robinson of Beverly and Scott M. Atkinson and wife Michele of Delanco, and stepfather of Curtis Asbury of Shamong, Sheri Titone and husband Joseph of Edgewater Park and Laura Beth Asbury of Troy, VA, Father-in-law of Nancy Atkinson of Delran, loving grandfather of 13 and loving great-grandfather of 14.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Marjorie and son Douglas.

There will be a viewing and visitation 7 to 9 PM Friday evening and 9 to 10 AM Saturday morning at The Lankenau Funeral Home, 303 Bridgeboro St., Riverside.

Relatives and friends of Al's family are invited to his Funeral Service 10:00 AM Saturday morning at The Lankenau Funeral Home, 303 Bridgeboro St., Riverside.

Interment with Navy Honors will be in Monument Cemetery, Edgewater Park.
