Rothie Bennett Altman, Jr., 88, widower of Lydia Turner Altman, died Friday, June 15, 2012, at Prince George Healthcare Center.

Mr. Altman was born in Georgetown on July 25, 1923, a son of the late Rothie Bennett Altman, Sr. and Agnes Bertha Luckan Altman.

He was a Master Mason and member of Winyah Lodge # 40, A.F.M. and a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose. Mr. Altman retired in 1985 from International Paper Co. after 42 years of employment. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Surviving are: three sons, Ronald Altman (Melissa) of Mt. Pleasant, and Wayne Altman (Jenny) and Jeffrey Altman, both of Georgetown; a brother, Linwood Altman of Pawleys Island; a sister, Laverne Collicott of Panama City, Fla.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Mildred Cross of Georgetown.

Funeral services will be at two o'clock on Tuesday afternoon, June 19, 2012, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Pastor Arden Hallman. Burial will follow at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
