First wife of Dickerson Holliday Walker. They married on November 6, 1850. She was the daughter of Thomas and Nancy (Veazey) Neel, prominent citizens of Hancock County.

She attended Mr. Hard's School in Augusta.

When Mary Neel married Dickerson H. Walker, her father, Thomas Neel, gave her for a wedding present a grand piano. This was the first piano in Walton County and was quite a curiosity.

He also gave his daughter a young Negro slave who was given the name of Bill Neel.
