Of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in St. Clair, surrounded by the love of her family, on Thursday, June 14, 2012, having reached the age of seventy years, eight months and twenty-one days. Mary was born in St. Louis, MO on September 24, 1941, daughter of Clem Brandt and Catherine Brandt nee Voss. As a young woman she was united in marriage and blessed to have two children. She again was united in marriage and blessed to have one daughter.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Angel Kelley and husband, Ryan, of St. Clair, MO; by two grandchildren, Sam and Grace Kelley of St. Clair; by two sisters, Virginia Brandt of Tuscon, AZ and Sister Catherine Marie Brandt of Stauton, IL; by two brothers, Kenneth Brandt and wife, Mary, of St. Louis, MO and Clem “C.J.” Brandt and wife, Barbara, of Marthasville, MO; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Clem and Catherine Brandt; by two children, Gerard and Kimberly York; by one sister, Jean Pirner; and by one brother, Jerry Brandt.
Mary was a Christian of the Catholic faith and member of St. Clare Catholic Church in St. Clair, MO. For many years she worked as a Certified Nurses’ Aide for Benedictine Care Center in St. Louis, MO. Most recently she was employed as a greeter at Wal-Mart in Union, MO. Mary had a variety of interests throughout her life including going to garage sales and knitting for her grandchildren. What meant most to Mary was her family and loving her grandchildren was her main priority. The many wonderful memories they created will be cherished by them forever.
A loving and devoted mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
