SUMMERVILLE, S.C. - William M. Ahner "Bill," passed away June 11, 2012, at a local hospital.
He was born Oct. 19, 1944, in Chicago, Ill. His parents are the late William F. and Grace Ahner.
He was preceded in death by his late brother, Wayne Ahner.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Ahner of Summerville, S.C.; daughter, Suzanne Tindal of Charleston, S.C.; four grandchildren; sister-in-law, Norma Ahner of Seaford, Va.; and nephew, Ashby Ahner, Seaford; Va.
Bill was a graduate of Hampton High School in Virginia. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the American Legion for 39 years. He was the chaplain at Post 166, Goose Creek, S.C., for many years. He was a voyager in the 40/8 for 23 years. He belongs to the Voiture 1067, in Goose Creek, S.C.. His highest office held was Color Guard National PassE.
A memorial service for friends and family will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2012, at American Legion Post, 166 on 116 Howe Hall Road, Goose Creek, S.C.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society , P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123-1718; or the charity of your choice .
