Pfc. Dennis A Denton of Holton, was killed in action with the United States Marine Corps on September 17, 1969, near Quang Tri, Vietnam. His death was due to wounds to the head and body from small arms and mortar fire. Pfc. Denton was a member of “I” Company, 3rd Battalion, 4th Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. He joined the Marine Corps in June 1968 and arrived in Vietnam in April 1969.
He was born at Holton, January 31, 1950. He attended Circleville High School 3 years and was a member of the football and basketball teams. He graduated from Holton High school in 1968.
He is survived by his wife, Sally J. Denton; a 5-week old son Bradley Alan of Holton; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert L. Denton of Holton; a brother Lyle A. Denton stationed with the U.S. Navy at Naples, Italy-serving aboard the USS Kennedy; and a sister Susan A. Denton of Holton.
