MRS JOHN HANSEN DIES WEDNESDAY
Mrs. John Hansen, who had been ill for nearly five years passed away at the Ord Hospital Wednesday evening. The Hansen family live northwest of Scotia.
Funeral Services were held at the Zion Lutheran church Saturday afternoon at 2, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. K. W. Ernstmeyer, Mrs. Clarence Sixel and Mrs. Bernard Bredthauer sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Going Down the Valley.” Mrs. Roy Fillinger was at the organ.
Pallbearers were Clarence Rubenthaler, Eugene Brown, Greeley Gebhardt, William King, Willard Bremer and Antone Jerabek. Interment was at Mr. Hope Cemetery, Scotia. Ashleys Mortuary was in charge.

Mary Sophia Sternberg was born at Holyoke, Colorado, Jan. 4, 1893, and passed away at the Ord Hospital Wednesday evening, Jan. 16 at the age of 64 years and 12 days. She had been bedfast for four years and eight months.
Mary Sophia Sternberg was married to John Hansen May 5, 1914, and to this union were born six children: Mrs. Hattie Reeves, Hastings; Marius, Fremont; Clarence, St. Paul; Junior, Ord; and Leroy and Virgil, Scotia.
She was baptized in the Lutheran church. She had been a resident of the Scotia Community for about 48 years. Preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters and three brothers.
She is survived by her husband and one daughter, five sons, 11 grandchildren , one great-grandchild, one sister, Mrs. Anna Seeber of Elba, three brothers, Roy of Elm Creek, Fred of Orick, Calif., and Howard of Scotia, and a host of relatives and friends.
She was a kind and loving mother and a friend to all who knew her.
