Myrtle M. Balentine

Myrtle Mae Rogers Balentine 83, Sherrod Avenue, Florence, Alabama died Monday April 10, 2000 at Mitchell Hollingsworth.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 22, 2000 6-9 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral will be Thursday April 13, 2000 at 2 p.m. at Darby Drive Church of Christ with burial in Greenview Memorial Park. Her body will lie in state in the vestible of Darby Drive Church of Christ from 1 until 2 p.m. Officiating at the funeral will be Ellis Coats and Fred Dillon.

She was a native of Lauderdale County. She is survived by her son, Steven Wayland Balentine and wife, Kelly of Florence. Three daughters, Jeanne Rebecca Holder and husband Carl of Killen. Jacqueline Anderson and husband David of Florence. Nancy Carolyn Jones and Husband Bobby of Florence. Sister Kathleen Moore of Tuscumbia Eight grandchildren; Jennifer Jones Parrish and husband Mitch, Molly Jones Watkins and husband Ralph, Amber Holder Thomas and husband Bill. Leah Balentine, John Balentine, Toby Holder, Zach Holder, Jade Anderson and wife Cindy, three great grandchildren Benjamin Watkins, Doss Anderson and Campbell Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur Pat and Rebecca Jane O'Kelly Rogers; her husband John Wayland Balentine; and two daughters Patsy Ann and Peggy Jane; a son James Larry and an Infant.
Pallbearers will be Toby Holder, Jade Anderson, John Balentine, Zach Balentine, Mitch Parrish and Ralph Watkins.

Honoray pallbearers will be Thurman Howard and Billy Joe Hanback. She was a member of the Darby Drive Church of Christ and the I. B. C. Women. Early in life Myrtle became a Christian and sought God's grace who gave her a prescious and loving husband Wayland Balentine and they shared 39 years of happiness. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother and servant to many on her community and church. She was an avid gardener and had won several beautification awards for her beautiful landscaped lawn.

Mrs. Balentine had been a resident of Mitchell-Hollingsworth for the past 5 1/2 years. Her family wished to thank those of the staff who tenderly cared for her.
