He was a graduate of Culver Military School. Dick graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Police Administration. He was a Phi Delta at IU. He was with the Indiana State Police for 15 years then retired and started at the Indiana Sheriffs Department, retiring after 5 years.
Dick then went to the Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, where he received his Masters Degree in Theology. Dick moved to Apache Junction, AZ and stayed there for 10 years.
Services are pending at Lutheran Church in Tipton, IN. A memorial service was held in Mesa, AZ. Interment: Nevada Indiana Cemetery.
Rev. Berger was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mildred Berger; and daughter, Amy Berger. Survivors: wife, Elizabeth (Pearson) Berger; sister, Marilyn Schlieper of Mesa, AZ; sister-in-law, Ann (Pearson) Diener of Indianapolis; and brothers, Robert Berger of Miami and John of Battle Creek, MI.
