Friends of the late Ronald Augustus Durham Sr., 73, of Madison Heights, Va., formerly of Dover, may call on the family beginning at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Forest Grove Seventh-day Adventist Church, 4950 Pearsons Corner Road, Dover, where services will be held at 1 p.m.
Mr. Durham died Monday, Oct. 20, 2008, in the Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born Dec. 12, 1935, in Dover, he was the son of the late Augustus Durham and Martha Carney Durham.
Mr. Durham worked as a union electrician out of the local union. He also had worked as a plumber in the Smyrna area.
He enjoyed deer hunting, touring on his motorcycle and watching standard breed horse racing.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Durham was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Durham.
He is survived by his wife of seven years, Barbara Bryant Durham of Madison Heights; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronald A. Durham Jr. of Dover, and David and Karen Durham of Kenton; a daughter, April Durham of Smyrna; a brother, Robert Elmer Durham of Bridgeton, N.J.; a sister, Marlyn Gourley of Magnolia; five grandchildren, Ashley and Brian Wolfe, Jeffrey Durham, Tiffany Hand and Madison Durham, all of the Smyrna area; and two great-grandsons, Adam and C.J. Hand.
Interment will be in the cemetery of the Forest Grove Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Arrangements were by Torbert Funeral Chapels, Dover.
