Mr. Goodnight worked 37 years at Firestone Tire and Rubber, and retired in 1977. He was a member of Kirklin American Legion and a 49-year member of the Masons. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1945, and was a volunteer for the Kirklin Volunteer Fire Department.
He was born December 15, 1914, in Clinton County, to William G. and Hattie O. Alexander Goodnight. He married Esther L. Smith on March 6, 1937, and she survives.
He is also survived by a son, Don of Plainfield; three daughters, Kay Harrison of Tucson, Arizona, Mrs. Burl (Patty) Tharp of Kirklin and Mrs. Bill (Barbara) Brock of Frankfort; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
One son, on sister, and two brothers preceded him in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Frye & Genda Funeral Home, with Pastor John Morris officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Kirklin.
