A. Jeannette Gates-Potts, age 73, of Valparaiso, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012.
She was born November 20, 1938 in Monroe, LA to John and Edith (Killingsworth) Gates.
Jeannette was a resident of Valparaiso since 1993, coming from Burnham, IL and had been a legal secretary with Kirkland and Ellis in Chicago for 40 years.
On October 5, 1957 she married Frank Eugene Potts, who survives, along with one daughter, Sharon Potts-Maxey of Westville; two granddaughters to whom she was affectionately known as "Memaw": Sarah Hurley of Calumet Township and Jennifer Hurley of Westville; and one sister, Sylvia Banta of Montgomery, MD.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters: Anne G. Berry and Sybil Gates. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 13, 2012 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home in Valparaiso where the funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Angelcrest Cemetery.
