Frances Elizabeth (Baker) Coulter, 90, a resident of Julia Manor Health Care Center in Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, June 11, 2012 at the nursing home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 14, 1921 in Benevola, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Hubert N. and Mary M. (Easterday) Baker. Her husband, Austin M. Coulter, Sr. preceded her in death on October 21, 1995.

Frances was a 1939 graduate of Boonsboro High School.

She was a lifetime member of Benevola United Methodist Church in Boonsboro, where she served as a former Sunday School Teacher and on the United Methodist Women's Guild. She was also a former member of Keenagers at Grace Brethren Church in Hagerstown.

Frances is survived by a daughter, Connie E. Richardson and her husband, Donald of Hagerstown; two sons, Donald E. Coulter and his wife, Sharon (Leatherman) of Hagerstown and Austin M. "Mickey" Coulter and his wife, Susan (Weaver) of Boonsboro; four grandchildren, Dwayne E. Coulter of Keedysville, Scott D. Coulter of Hagerstown, Karen L. Morris of Timonium, Maryland, Brian D. Coulter of Boonsboro; eight great-grandchildren, Austin J. Morris, Dylan M. Coulter, Addy E. Coulter, Luke A. Coulter, Chloe M. Coulter, Jackson S. Coulter, Briana R. Coulter, and Jena N. Gordon; and one sister, Rebecca Heller of Hagerstown. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Frances was preceded in death by a brother, Luther H. Baker and a sister, Ruth V. (Baker) Shifler.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the residents and staff of Julia Manor Health Care Center and to Hospice of Washington County for their love, care, and support of Frances during her time at the nursing home.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Benevola United Methodist Church, 19925 Benevola Church Road, Boonsboro, Maryland. The Rev. John H. Dean will officiate. Final resting-place ceremonies will follow at Boonsboro Cemetery in Boonsboro.

Family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday, June 14, 2012.
