Written by Elder Robert H Barwick in his book, "Memories".

"He and I are kin folks, our mothers were double first cousins. He is an educated man and was for many years an educator of note. The Lord called him into the ministry. He rebelled and buried himself in farming operations, but the Lord would not let him alone, so he dropped everything and put his all in his ministry, and there is no man among us more appreciated and sought after than he. He preaches more funerals in Southeast Georgia than any man of any denomination. He is a diligent successful pasoir and is the only real D.D. among us. This title was conferred upon him by the State authorities, but not at his request They wired him to come on a certain day to receive this honor, but he wired them he was engaged in a meeting and could not come. They gave it to him anyway. Of course, he appreciated the honor, but it means nothing to him, compared to the fellowship of "this sect that is everwhere spoken against."
