William M. Beezley
Juneau resident William M. Beezley, 75, died Jan. 23, 2000, at St. Ann's Care Center in Juneau. He was 75.
He was born Nov. 21, 1924 in Dallas, Texas, to Homer Lee Beezley and Bertha Offield. He moved to Juneau in 1956.
He was a disabled World War II veteran and a Vietnam veteran with the 82nd Airborne, U.S. Army. He was a recipient of Silver Star, Bronze Star W/C, Purple Heart W/C, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and Vietnamese Order of Honor. He was also a prisoner of war.
His education included an associates degree in cultural research from the University of Heidelberg, Germany; bachelor of arts in business administration from the University of Southern California; and studies in marketing and sales at the University of Hong Kong and culture and commerce at the University of the Philippines.
He had specialized training in hotel management, mountain climbing and rescue, commando parachute jumping and he was a USCG certified lifeboatman.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, the DAV and the Filipino Community, Inc. His hobbies included bowling, pool, hiking, parachuting, playing bingo, bridge and cards.
He is survived by his wife Esper of Juneau, adopted children Perlinalyn Marie Windalyn and Ronaldo Beezley of the Philippines, nieces Marilou Lyons of Oregon, Lolita Gosioco of Michigan, Saning Dela Rosa of California, Erna Santos of Canada, Flor Obaldo of Maryland, Aida Balmes of Virginia and Irene Greganta of Washington; Godmothers Sally Belarde, Nicanora Lorenzo, Isadora Cuanzon, Adoracion Ramos and Marina Mason, Godfathers Dony Corpuz and Charles Smith, all of Juneau, and friends Elli Carlson, Sue McKeon and Bonnie Elder.
Viewing will be 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at the Alaska Mortuary and Memorial Park. Rosary prayer will be led by Father Perry Kenaston at 6 p.m.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary. A reception will follow at the Cathedral Parish Hall next door.
Pall bearers will be Pat Sidmore, John Greganta, Danny Villanueva, Jose Abad, Jr., Dominico Paguio and Rolando Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Alex, Vincent Yadao, Sr., William Lampe, Mariano Soriano, Nestor Catli, Nick Saceda, Orlando Moskito, Tranquilino Nicolas and Dewey George.
