He was the son of Edward Burgess and Sarah Davis. He married Amelia Hudgins on Jan. 22, 1906 in Fayette Co. KY. He was a former employee of the Brown and Williamson Tobacco Co. in Louisville and had resided in Huntingburg since 1955.
He is survived by three sons, two daughters, one sister and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his great-grandson, Charles Clay Burgess.
