Norma Jean Bates, 77, of Huntsville passed away Monday. Mrs. Bates was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, and was a loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Bates and son, Jerry A. Bates.

Survivors include sons, Larry A. Bates (Nelda) of Tuscaloosa and T. Jack Bates (Jan) of Denham Springs, LA; daughter, Donna J. Fotovich of Meridianville; grandchildren, Britney, Evan, Sarah, Kayla, KellyAnn Bates and Samantha, Katrina and Dani Fotovich; brothers, Robert, Troy and Clay Akemon of South Bend, IN; brother-in-law, David Bates of Libertyville, IL and sister-in-law, Helen Joyce Ferrell of Cape Coral, FL.

Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The service will follow in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Sara F. Cameron-Adams officiating. Burial will be in Faith Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the food pantry at St. Paul United Methodist Church.
