Donald Eugene Haley, 86, died at 10:30 AM Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, in his home. He had been in failing health, but death was unexpected. Mr. Haley worked at Fairfield Manufacturing Co. for 27 years. After retiring there, he opened Haley's Lock, Safe and Key and operated the business until 1988, when he sold it to his son-in-law and grandson. Born May 23, 1914, in Indianapolis, he lived most of his life in the Battle Ground and Lafayette area. He attended Brookston schools. He married Barbara D. Bailey Albright on Aug. 17, 1963, and she survives. Mr. Haley was a member of Fairfield Athletic Association, and he was an avid woodworker.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Vivian Jean (Mrs. Richard 'Dick') Oliver of Lafayette, and Donna Marie (Mrs. Neil) Austin of Chalmers; a son, Donald O. Haley (wife Judy) of Danville, IL; two stepdaughters, Dolores Albright of Lafayette and Doty (Mrs. John) Warmoth of Lebanon; a stepson, Kenneth Albright of Lafayette; six sisters, Agnes Thomas of Bowling Green, KY, Dorothy Porter of Lafayette, Hazel Dalebout of St. George, UT, Shirley Sherman of Georgetown, IL, Carolyn Bell of Logansport and Helen O'Neil of California; 9 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a brother, Ed Haley. Services Sept. 9 in Hippensteel Chapel; internment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
