The third of seven children born to Alva Louis Groves (1874-1966) and Frances Blanche Hayes/Groves/Phye, Hazel married Charles LeRoy Phelps in Clayton, New Mexico in 1950, divorced in 1984. Two daughters were born, Pamela (Phelps) Genovesi and Jackie (Phelps) Clark. She was preceeded in death by her Father, Alva Louis Groves (1966), Brother, Donald Dee (1950) Sisters Alice Lorraine "Rainey" (2000),Audrey Karlene (1995). Sister Doris followed in 2001. Half brothers Olin and Glenn Groves also passed prior to her death. Their mother Frances Blanche Hayes Groves divorced Alva and was last seen in the company of James Franklin Phye, disappearing after 1955 while in the employ of a family named BROOKS in Palm Springs - she is believed to have been a homicide domestic violence victim. James Phye committed suicide in 1996 in Las Vegas taking that mystery to his grave in Panguich Utah. Hazel was survied by her two daughters Pam and Jackie, five grandchildren: Jason, Jill Juliana, Lindsey and Lauren and seven great grandchildren, Devin Adams, Jerrad Sroufe, Lyam and Eve Genovesi, Ava, Emma and Regina Stankiewicz. Also survived by two sisters, Lorma Marcotte and Ilene Slaughter and dozens of nieces and nephews.
