Mrs. John Schaefer, nee Dorothea Ellermann, 77, died last night at the Holy Family hospital, where she had been a patient since suffering a heart attack Sunday.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 from the home, 1011 South 14th street, and at 2 o'clock from the First German Evangelical Lutheran church. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery.
Mrs. Schaefer was born April 2, 1863, in Germany. At the age of 3 years she came to America and settled in Whitelaw with her parents. In 1881 she was married to John Schaefer. The couple moved to Manitowoc and operated a butcher shop at 14th and Washington streets for 45 years. Mr. Schaefer died seven years ago.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Bertha Krause of Manitowoc, Miss Ida Schaefer of Sheboygan, Mrs. F. C. Proehl of Milwaukee, Mrs. Ed Nitz of Racine and Mrs. Lydia Kitchener of Chicago; two sons, the Rev. William Schaefer of Milwaukee and George of Sheboygan; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Krause of Mellon, 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The body will be removed to the home from the Wattawa, Urbanek and Schlei funeral home Friday at 1 p.m. It may be viewed at the home until the time of the services Saturday.
