Mary was the seventh of thirteen children. The first six of her siblings died of diptheria. Her birthplace was Iowa. On her Missouri death certificate her parents were Nicolul Davis (b.France) and Ms. (?)Wegman (b.Germany).

Mary had six children with her first husband, Joseph Eck, in Clark Co. South Dakota. The first two were twins who died shortly after birth (ca1866). Joseph buried them on their Clark County farm.
Mary divorced Joseph around 1895 and married John Miller with whom she had three more children, the first in South Dakota and the last two in Iowa. She seems to have divorced John Miller sometime before 1910.
She married a third time to Joseph LeClair sometime before 1910 in Iowa. By 1920 Mary and Joseph had moved to Clay County, Missouri. The move also allowed Mary to be near one of her Eck children (George Eck from her first marriage) who worked and lived in Randolph County.
