P.A. Withee, 75, who was known much better as "Pop", died at his home on 824 Thorn Street, Sewickley at 4 a.m. on Thursday, September 6, 1956, following an illness of three months. Friends were received at the Gray-Cole Funeral Home, Beaver Street, Sewickley, where funeral services were conducted by the Reverent W.W. McKinney of the Ambridge Presbyterian Church, on Saturday morning. Interment was in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Freedom.
Born in Ohio, February 18,1881, he was a pipe fitter at the American Bridge for many years. He like to do woodworking and work in his flower garden. He was a resident of Sewickley for 27 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Josephine Dunlop (Dunlap) Withee, a son, James G. Withee of R.D. 3, Coraopolis, a daughter Helen Elizabeth (Betty) Withee at home and two grandchildren.
Note: His first marriage was to Mary McDaniel on March 1, 1904 in Meigs, Ohio. They had 2 children, Elizabeth May and Gladys Irene.
