Mr. R.L. Lowery passed away on Thursday, June 9th, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Screven County and of the Baptist faith. He was a retired former employee of Brannen's Tobacco Warehouse and last employed as a landscaper for the Smith Family and Company.

He is survived by two sons, Tony (Jennifer) Grant, Statesboro, and Jerry (Eule) Holloway, Clito; three sisters, Mary Lowery, Elizabeth, N.J., and Lois Johnson and Mamie Johnson, both of Statesboro; one uncle, Joe Ralph (Hattie) Wilkerson, Hilton Head, S.C.; two aunts, Eloise Wilkerson and JoAnn Wilkerson, both of Elizabeth, N.J.; seven grandchildren, Torrion Grant, Atlanta, and Toni Washington, Allendale, S.C., and Simone Douglas, Statesboro, Tivaz Holloway, Carlo NeSmith, Antonio Holloway and Ellis Allen, all of Clito; a special niece, Kenisha (Kizzy) Johnson, Statesboro; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Mr. Lowery will be held on Saturday, June 18th, at noon at the Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald Chavers officiating. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery. James R. Barnes Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
