She was born July 6, 1936, in Konawa to Fred and Rachel (Sager) Ballou. Her family moved to Shawnee in 1940. She attended Shawnee Schools and graduated in 1955. During high school, Mary was active in the Pep Club.
On June 4, 1955, she married Oral "Richard" Davis in Shawnee. They recently celebrated their 54th anniversary.
Mary was employed at City Hospital in Shawnee before becoming a full-time homemaker.
Mary was recently awarded the 50-year service pin from the Beta Sigma Phi International Women's Friendship Network. She was a charter member of the Laureate Alpha Tau chapter. She originally attended the Assembly of God Church in Shawnee. She was a charter member of the Evangelistic Center and recently attended Liberty Baptist Church.
Mary was active in her children's activities and a leader for Campfire Girls, Boy Scouts and Missionettes and was the first woman awarded the "Golden Buffalo" from the BSA. Mary 's hobbies included biking, bowling, rock hounding, fishing, birding, traveling, tole painting, crafting, camping and attending OU football and Blazer hockey games. Mary gave lessons in tole painting and crafts. She displayed and sold her arts and crafts. She delivered meals on wheels and worked at Operation Christmas with her husband. Mary enjoyed cheering at her grandson Luke's sports events including hockey and recently her granddaughter Kaleigh's T-ball.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Rachel Ballou; one sister, Estella Jane (Ballou) Wheeler; and one niece, Tammy (Ballou) McLoud.
Survivors include her husband Oral Richard Davis of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Kendall Ward of Edmond; sons and daughter-in-law, Richard and Leslie Davis of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Ron Davis of Tulsa; grandchildren, Luke Ward of Edmond and Kaleigh Davis of Tulsa; sister and brother-in-law, Freda and J.R. Peters of Shawnee; brother and sister-in-law, Charley and Brenda Ballou of Tecumseh; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marilyn and Jim Davis of Pocola, Okla., and Linda and Gerald Nowlin of Bethel Acres.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, at Liberty Baptist Church with Bill Currens officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.
