Davis L. Evans

ASHTABULA - Davis L. Evans, 77, of 3201 Ridgewood Ave., died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 1991, in Veterans Administration Medical Center, Erie.
Born May 17, 1914 in Frankfort, Ind., he was a son of Vern and Lusetta (Bristow) Evans and had lived in the Ashtabula area since 1960.
Mr. Evans was a machinist with the Geneva plant of the True Temper Co. until his retirement in 1963.
A veteran of World War II, Mr. Evans served with the U. S. Army Air Corps in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of Operations.
In 1946, he re-enlisted with the U. S. Army Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged in October 1951 with the rank of Sergeant.
Mr. Evans was known for his banjo playing and enjoyed bluegrass music.
Survivors include two brothers, Paul and Morris W., both of Belleview, Fla., and a sister, Hester Kavach of Waterbury, Conn. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Norman E.
Service is 11 a.m. Friday at the family gravesite in Edgewood Cemetery, Ashtabula Township, with the Rev. Don Cooper of Lake Avenue United Methodist Church officiating.
No calling hours will be observed.
